April 22, 2015

Definitely it’s one of the most beautiful places in the World.

Explore & Book :

Even if you believe you have already seen some of the world’s most enchanting places, this luxury Resort on wonderful Amalfi Coast will leave you speechless. The former 17th century  Monastero  sits amidst a rocky landscape, opening up onto beautiful vistas over the Gulf of Salerno, while, at the edge of the resort’s magnificent gardens, an infinity pool is set against a horizon that captures the most stunning of sunsets. I highly reccommmend it !

Choose to spend every moment of the day in a different place, depending on your mood.  The extensive grounds slope down through four levels of  garden terraces, all with day beds, sun chairs and intimate places to relax and take in the beauty of the surrounding areas. An extensive Spa area and lavish indoor spaces offer respite from the sun and places where a couple can simply enjoy each other’s company or spend time reading or toasting with a glass of wine.

The culinary treats of Santa Rosa are as unique as the monastery itself. Our distinguished Executive Chef Christoph Bob has created an innovative Mediterranean gastronomic experience for the most discerning palate with the freshest ingredients from the surrounding Campania region. Christoph has worked in some of the world’s most celebrated restaurants, but amoredrew him to the Amalfi Coast and to our prized kitchen. Married to a woman from the Amalfi Coast, Christoph muses, “I not only fell in love with my wife, I fell in love with the destination and its food. Nowhere on earth does the sun and the soil give us such richness of flavors as do the fresh produce, herbs, and seafood found right here on our coast.”

Chef Bob’s insatiable love affair with food is reflected in every delectable dish on the menu. Precision-perfect flavors focusing on the bounty of the sea combine in his specialties like the appetizer trio of crustaceans—lobster with chickpea puree and smoked olive oil broad bean salad with Colonnata’s bacon and king prawn ravioli with Corbara’s tomatoes and candied lemon. Or relish main course mouthwatering fusilli with baby squids, Piennolo’s tomatoes and basil-scented aubergines. With Monastero Santa Rosa’s own herb and vegetable garden on site, every morsel combines the freshest local, organic ingredients of Conca dei Marini.

Santa Rosa Spa

Monastero Santa Rosa

is a place of abundant scent of rosemary and lemon. The wide tiered gardens that cascade to an infinity edged pool, seemingly embrace the panoramic views from the edge of a towering cliff facade dropping dramatically to the calm azure of the Amalfi Coast.

Centuries of history behind ancient walls tell a tale of community and the offering of sanctuary, healing and comfort.

Each room within the Spa preserves the original 17th Century vaulted ceilings and many of its rustic walls, maintaining the monastic heritage of this beautiful property. The Italian heritage of bathing is presented in the form of a Thermal Suite, consisting of a collection of vaulted spaces inter-connecting the various warm rooms via arched openings & changes of levels… a discovery around each corner.

The Suite includes a stunning double-height vaulted Tepidarium with pomegranate infused foot spas & heated mosaic loungers; domed Aromatic Steam Room; crushed Ice fountain to refresh between thermal bathing; Rock Sauna; Hydro Pool and Emotion Showers.

The most exceptional treatment room – the Spa Suite, is a stunning 80m2 double height vaulted space with Rasul; steam room; double wet & dry treatment couches; manicure / pedicure; relaxation lounge; private dressing & grooming space and a garden terrace… a ‘private spa within a spa’.

Rooms & Suites

Enter a sanctuary evoking a lost time. The spiritual enchantment of the transformed monastery remains ever present in the luxuriously converted 20 rooms and suites, each named for an herb that the nuns would have used in making their medicines from the  Monastero Santa Rosa  garden. Vaulted ceilings and the primary structure of the nuns’ rooms and refectory have been preserved and linked together with ensuites to create sumptuous bedrooms, each with a spellbinding sea view stretching from the Conca dei Marini’s fishing harbor below to Amalfi beyond.

A local Neopolitan designer has collaborated with the owner to create an elegant ambiance graced by timeless Italian antiques. Every conceivable lavish amenity and comfort abound. But the focus remains the vistas. From this distinct vantage perch, the dazzling coast and Gulf of Salerno is revealed, framed through windows and balconies facing the sea. Each room still exudes the sense of tranquility where a nun once stayed—a totally private and intimate retreat bathed in the angelic sunlight of the Amalfi Coast.

The suites represent an authentic Italian residential experience. Each suite has been individually designed with furniture hand picked by the owner, Bianca, throughout her travels in Italy. One-of-a-kind antiques accent the suites while historical black and white photographs taken before the renovation don the walls evoking the spiritual past. The suites vary in size with each space completely unique—some with elegant living and dining rooms as well as terraces swathed in bougainvillea lingering over the Gulf of Salerno and the enchanting Conca dei Marini fishing village.

The Amalfi Coast

Writers, poets and artists have tried for centuries to capture the beguiling essence of la dolce vita along Costiera Amalfitana. A coastline so renowned for its divine allure that John Steinbeck rhapsodized in 1953, “a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there but becomes beckoningly real after you are gone.” The picture-perfect towns along Italy’s Amalfi Coast do belong solely to the angels in their otherworldly beauty. Visit Costiera Amalfitana and you too will succumb to its transcendental nature.

Monastero Santa Rosa

stands secluded along the famed Blue Highway near the quaint fishing village of Conca dei Marini. Centrally located, the hotel is just a 20-minute car or boat ride from the most scenic towns along this glamorous coastline—notably Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. Although the villages of the Amalfi Coast are a magnet for the wealthy with their luxury hotels and million-dollar yachts sprinkling the sea, what characterizes the region is its effortless Mediterranean simplicity—cobblestone streets, fresh seafood drizzled in olive oil, bougainvillea-covered villas, sweet citrus scents wafting from abundant lemon groves, and unrivaled views.

Spread your wings along the dramatic Blue Highway serpentining its way south of Sorrento. The Amalfi Drive, “the road with 1,001 turns,” is the most precipitous road in Europe with vertigo-inducing vistas plunging down jagged cliffs into the azure Tyrrhenian Sea. Levitate over heavenly Positano from the perch of the Madonna which reigns over the town’s tiered cascade of salmon, cream and vanilla houses tumbling like a waterfall into the Bay of Positano. Built vertically on the face of a mountain, Positano began as an isolated fishing village but became the favorite of the international jet set in the 1960s after the Kennedys came to stay.

The prime way to see Positano is on foot via its famous scalinatella. Wind your way up and down endless staircases around the Piazza dei Mulini stopping to shop for linens or custom made sandals, savoring an espresso along the way at the Marina Grande’s seaside cafes flanked by hundreds of bobbing colored boats. From any vantage point, gape in awe at the town’s stunning church, the Santa Maria Assunta.

Its green and gold majolica tiled Duomo is Positano’s most coveted landmark. For another perspective of the town, curve past the Covo dei Saraceni (where the ferries depart for Capri along the Via Postinesi D’America near Trasita Tower) to find Fornillo Beach. Fornillo Spiagga boasts a large pebbly beach situated between two ancient watch towers, ideal for contemplating all this beauty while enjoying grilled fish, authentic Neapolitan wood-fired pizza and a limoncello. At night join locals at disco and piano bar Music on the Rocks ingeniously carved into the cliffs at the end of the main spiagga.

Monastero Santa Rosa    is Located approximately 175 miles southeast of Rome, the Amalfi Coast stretches for 15 miles along the Sorrentine Peninusla. Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa is located approximately 10 minutes from the town of Amalfi, 25 minutes from Positano, 15 minutes from Ravello, and 80 minutes from the Naples International Airport, the region’s most common point of entry.
